An interest in and dedication to fashion is typically seen as an effeminate pusuit, the industry widely regarded as the province of homosexuals and thin, glamourous, bitchy women. Violence, when on the rare occasion it enters fashion’s consciousness, does so in a rather narrow way, inspiring combat shorts and little else.

The field of security studies by contrast is male dominated. Its basic precepts rarely entertain the notion that dress or even culture in general could be significant, a view for which it is increasingly underfire from an academic minority.

Killerfashion aims to illustrate the inescapable confluence of these artifically divided fields.
